THREE ROBINSON CARTAGE DRIVERS RECEIVE NATIONAL SAFETY AWARDS

Grand Rapids, Michigan, May 27, 2009

Three drivers for Robinson Cartage Co. have received national awards for safe driving. The Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association recognized three drivers of the Grand Rapids-based heavy-hauling transportation provider from its 15 Million Miler award recipients for logging 1 million consecutive miles each without an accident. The Robinson drivers are:

• Donald Boutwell, Newaygo
• Stanley Harjes, Mears
• Michael Sharp, Kalamazoo

The drivers have a combined tenure of more than 28 years with Robinson, which routinely hauls machinery, equipment, construction materials and other over-sized loads for a wide variety of industries. The 3 drivers have driven more than 4.5 million accident-free miles during their careers. More than half of all Robinson Cartage drivers have been recognized with Million Miler awards.

“Accumulating 1 million consecutive accident-free miles is quite an impressive accomplishment for any professional driver,” said Douglas Ball, vice president of transportation for SC&RA. “This milestone is indicative of company and individual commitment to safety. The Robinson Cartage drivers receiving Million Miler Safety Awards this year are to be commended and deserve special recognition.”

In both 2008 and 2007, four additional Robinson drivers in each year earned recognition in the Million Miler program. Additionally, the Company recently received the Transportation Group Safety Improvement Award from SC&RA.

“We strive to have an accident rate that is consistently below the industry average, and we are pleased when our drivers earn recognition for their hard work and careful driving,” said David Scripps, president of Robinson Cartage. “We are very focused on safety, which is woven into everything we do - from hiring excellent drivers with great records to ongoing safety training.”
