Robinson Cartage Wins National Safety Award
Grand Rapids, Michigan, June 20, 2006
Robinson Cartage Co. has been recognized for its fleet safety with a national award.
The Grand Rapids-based provider of heavy-hauling transportation received the 2006 Transportation Group Safety Improvement Award from the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association. Robinson Cartage was one of nine companies in the country to receive the award, which demonstrated a reduction in accident frequency rates for miles traveled compared on a year-over-year basis.
The Company logged more than 2.1 million miles during 2005 with only one accident, compared with 1.95 million miles and two accidents during the preceding year.
SC&RA also recognized several other motor carriers for having no or low accident rates. The awards are part of the trade association's ongoing efforts to encourage its members to transport, lift and erect oversized or overweight items safely.
“Safety is one of our primary concerns, and we are very pleased to have our efforts recognized by SC&RA," said David Scripps, president of Robinson Cartage. "Our accident rate is consistently well below the industry average because we hire good drivers and emphasize safety training.”
